July rain above average

Having mentioned football in the rain, it’s worth noting Mount Gambier has already had more than its average rain for July in the month so far.

The city had recorded 101mm until 9am today. The long-term average for July is 99mm.

Waiting for winter to end

Winter in Australia isn’t cold compared with most parts of North America and Europe.

However, in Mount Gambier at least it’s cool enough and rains a lot.

I got chillblains for the first time in years and the kids have had enough. After two years in arid, hot Kalgoorlie they want a change.

It will never get as hot here, but the rain should stop in a couple of months … hopefully.

The Border Watch

The Border Watch website had its public launch on Friday. There was an immediate spike in traffic, but visitor numbers slowed down over the weekend.

It will take a while to get a steady base of users. There are about 30 subscribers to news headlines already, which is a good sign.
