Latin Mass approved
It’s fair enough that Pope Benedict has approved wider use of the Latin Mass in a new decree. Latin remains a significant liturgical language and it seems appropriate to maintain that tradition as part of the Church’s universality. I was born in the 1967 and I have never attended a Latin Mass, but I respect the wishes of those who wish to hear the word of God in any language.

Wallabies win
The rugby test in Sydney between Australia and South Africa was fairly lacklustre. South Africa’s B team was competitive, but never really threatened. Australia’s attack wasn’t as potent as it should have been. Take away the intercept try though, and it was a dominant performance by the Wallabies.

Abuse in Aboriginal communities
The available evidence suggests that sexual abuse and violence is rife in Aboriginal communities.
The Federal Government is right to take decisive action. My concern is that action so far has been limited to Central Australia.
What will be done about the problems elsewhere?

Cock up in The Age
All newspapers make mistakes, but I find it hard to believe someone at The Age didn’t notice that Alan Didak was hanging loose in the photo which Andrew Landeryou gleefully reproduced.
Landeryou also revealed Dean Mighell’s butt. The political blogger has a history of exposing the bare truth.
Local satire
A clever site satirising local government in my former Alpine Shire home has sprung up. Satire is hard to write and I’ll be interested to see if it can be sustained. The anonymous author has got plenty of material to work with though. The local mayor was convicted of drink driving and refused to stand down.

Bulldog trolley readers
Footscray supporters are more likely to notice the advertisements on shopping trolleys. I didn’t even know there were ads on shopping trolleys and I didn’t know that Footscray supporters could read, let alone afford to shop!
Perhaps they notice the ads while they’re dumping trolleys into the Maribyrnong River.
